East Ayrshire Council announces extended school closures
East Ayrshire Council have given an update on school closures in the region amidst heating and flooding problems.
The Barony Campus’ Robert Burns Academy and its supported learning centre, which will reopen to pupils on Monday 12 January, have been affected due to internal flooding with other local primary schools having to delay their reopening.
Hillside School, Lochnorris Primary and SLC, and Cherry Trees ECC within the Cumnock-based campus will remain closed tomorrow as the council continues to “consider their duty of care for pupils” following multiservice-meetings addressing the relevant issues arising from Sunday.
Patna Primary School and St Xavier’s Primary were given the all-clear at 1.30pm today to open as normal tomorrow, Wednesday 7 January.
The likes of Sorn, Drongan, and Catrine Primary Schools were able to welcome pupils back today (6 January) following the decision to close on the first Monday back due to heating failure.
