Airport workers secure pay deal

Strike action at Prestwick Airport has been averted after Unite the Union successfully negotiated an improved pay package for workers.
More than 400 staff were involved in the dispute, with a ballot on industrial action due to conclude this week.
However, progress in negotiations resulted in a revised offer which was overwhelmingly accepted by members.
The agreement will see the majority of workers receive an eight per cent pay increase, backdated to April 1.
The deal also includes an additional day of annual leave, improvements to shift payments and pension contributions, and guarantees the Real Living Wage of £13.45 per hour for all permanent staff.
